Google Logo

 The Google logo has more meaning and representation than most people realize. There are a couple different meanings in the the logo its self.
    One is the colors. If you look at it closely you will realize that all but one of the letters is a primary color. The the "L" is a secondary color. The reason for this is that the Google company wanted to express that Google doesn't follow the rules. There is also another meaning, the first three colors are representing primary colors in the arts while the last three represent web colors (RGB).
   Even the font has meaning. The font for this logo is Catull. The reason the designers chose this one is because it fulfilled all that they wanted the logo to say. The font is playful yet simple, effortless reading, subtly sophisticated with some humor. While also looking like an old quill and chisel look with a modern look. All these things are exactly what Google wanted to portray. The thought that google is easy to use, can be fun, but also serious along with tying the old and the new together to create something for everyone.
   The name "Google"itself also has meaning. The name is a play on the word googol which is a number with 100 zeros. This represents the creators (Larry Page and Sergey Brin) mission to organize almost infinite amounts of information on the web
                               

My font Type

The font that I got is Hevitica. The website says that Hevitica is reliable, classic, but a little boring. I think this describes me pretty well. I like classic and traditional things. I also like to think that I am reliable, I will be there for my friends and family whenever they need me. I suppose I can also be a little boring. If you look at the font you can tell why it might say all those thing. This font is simple, not a lot going on. Which people might also call boring. It is also very classic, not new and upcoming, but traditional.

Pencil Project

 These are the three projects I made in Illustrator. To make them I used multiple tools, and learned what the shortcuts to those tools were. To make the pencil I first used the shape tool to make the base rectangle and triangle. Then held down the options key while making the other shapes so that they would match up with the other shapes. I also learned that command-J is used to join shapes. Command-G can be used to group something then Command-shift-G is to ungroup.
                                   

What is Graphic Design?

   Most people think that graphic design is just art. But they are wrong. They don't understand just how useful graphic design really is. Graphic Design is a way of communication, a way to show other people what you think, feel, or create. All in an interesting, unique way.
   Without graphic design the way we advertise things, and the way we communicate with others, would be less exciting, less interesting. The reason is that you are not only creating something unique and great to look at. You are also communicating something to others. This could be a poster advertising a concert. It could also be a logo for pet adoption that catches peoples eye, and help them remember that organization. Another use is to help create websites. No one wants to look at a boring website, with no color, nothing interesting, nothing that catches the eye. And that is exactly what websites would look like without graphic design, boring and all the same. But we don't have to have websites like that, we can use graphic design to make it look awesome, beautiful, eye catching. So that you don't HAVE to go to that website, instead you WANT to go to that website because it is interesting. 
   Graphic design can also be helpful to people in a different way. For safety. Someone needs to design those signs that tell you not to turn on red, or to show you which direction the sale is, or to tell you that the road is closed. Yes all these things are created by graphic designers. Without those things, and more, life would be chaotic. No one would know where to turn. Or when to get to the store before it closes, or be able to find that business card with that important persons information on it. 
   Graphic design isn't just art, or even fine arts. No it is more than that, it is communication, its lines, signs, shapes, color, information, messages, discoveries, hope, happiness, wonder, creation... its life.
