Wordpress.org is a little different. You still go here to create your own site and register. However with wordpress.org you get to host your site. You download and instal the software needed to host it from this site and then you are able to do more of everything your self because you get to host it.

Wordpress was created to enhance the typography of everyday writing like in blog posts. Wordpress was created with a hope of personal publishing system. The focus is on user experience and web standards. It is the successor to b2/cafelog and was developed in 2001.
